Berlin, 08.10.24– Riverty, the Fintech arm of Bertelsmann, proudly celebrates its second anniversary, reflection on two years of transformative growth and unwavering commitment to delivering human-centric financial products.

Guided by its vision to become the most human-centric fintech player, Riverty has achieved significant milestones. In just two years the company has helped to start transform the debt collection space by making the process more empathetic and accessible through solutions like its self-service portal. The portal provides transparency on claims, user-friendly payment flows and flexible payment options making easier for consumers to pay off their claims.

The company’s approach also includes empowering customer care agents, who in several key markets are now certified financial coaches. These professionals provide personalized advice to financially stressed customers, helping over 3 million individuals regain financial balance. Further cementing its commitment to fair practices, The company recently received governmental endorsements in both Germany and the Netherlands, aligning with stringent new regulations for more ethical debt collection.

Equally transformative in the Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) landscape. In the Netherlands—one of its key BNPL markets—Riverty played a pivotal role in establishing a sector-wide code of conduct, promoting fair practices for merchants and customers alike, minimizing fees, and fostering more equitable services for society.

The company’s merchant first approach has been key in driving growth as well as the company’s desire to enter new business verticals. A standout achievement has been winning the tender to manage ticket payment services for Berlin’s public transport provider, BVG. Additionally, the integration of AI in its software development and agent support strategy has significantly enhanced its solutions while driving scalability and efficiency.

“It’s been an incredible journey, and even though I’ve only had the privilege of leading this team for the last four months, I can’t help but feel very proud in what we’ve accomplished”, said Andreas Barth, CEO Riverty. “From the double-digit growth to serving more than 22 000 merchants and over 28 million global customers, the momentum here is undeniable. Shout out to the team of passionate professional people at Riverty for making this possible as well as the merchants, partners and consumers endorsing us”.

"In the last two years, Riverty has grown its presence in payments, debt collection, and accounting-as-a-service. Our team’s hard work and focus on delivering what our clients need have helped us expand and build our partner portfolio considerably”, said Jörg Schnelle, Chief Commercial Officer.
